State Space Modeling of an Offshore Wind Power Plant With an MMC-HVDC Connection for an Eigenvalue-Based Stability Analysis

Large offshore wind power plants (OWPPs) installed far from the coastline are emerging to benefit strong and steady resources available at these locations. The high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission system based on modular multilevel converter (MMC) is most appropriate solution transmit produced energy onshore grid, in a way that complex power-electronic-based electrical formed OWPP. Undesired interactions can occur between MMC-based HVDC station, several wind-turbine (WT) converters, passive elements of grid. To guarantee safe reliable operation OWPP, small-signal analysis must be performed advance predict possible unstable situations their root causes, as take corrective measures avoid them. In this paper, state space model an OWPP developed which recently proposed multiple dq frames adopted for MMC.
